Welcome to Bedford Community Counselling

Bedford Community Counselling offers affordable and high quality therapy to people living in and around the county, but also further afield. Established in 2012 and based in the heart of Bedford, we offer face to face, online and telephone counselling to people aged over 18.

Our focus is on promoting therapy as a resource for people in need of support for a range of emotional needs or difficulties.  We also offer specialist relational and trauma therapies including DIT and Forensic Psychotherapy.

Therapy can help to manage and cope with depression and anxiety, difficult emotions (such as stress, anger, worry, grief, shame, guilt or regret, sadness, fears about the future, uncertainty and low self-worth), bereavement, major life events, loss or change, relationship problems, addictions, obsessions, traumatic experiences (including abuse, both recent or historic), illness or chronic physical or mental health problems (our own, or someone else’s), in/fertility, identity and cultural differences, work related difficulties, sexuality and gender identity, phobias and fears, loneliness and isolation, and eating disorders.

We believe that Bedford Community Counselling offers a vitally needed service for adults who might otherwise not be able to access counselling because of finance or shortfall in service provision.  Our ethos is that counselling should be available to anyone who wants or needs it. We promote and embrace diversity, equality and difference, in a confidential, neutral and comfortable environment.

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), we work for the benefit of the community and not for private advantage.  We have a built-in asset lock which ensures that any profits are passed back into the community.

All of our therapists are Accredited or Registered Members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the largest professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.  We are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure.  All of our counsellors have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, receive regular clinical supervision and access high quality ongoing training.
